About SPIRAL Academic Press

An independent scholarly publisher dedicated to advancing rigorous interdisciplinary research in human development, leadership, and organizational science.

Our History

SPIRAL Academic Press was founded as a division of SPIRAL With Fredah LLC, an organization dedicated to advancing human development through research, practice, and education. The press emerged from a recognized gap in the scholarly publishing landscape: the need for a rigorous, independent publisher focused specifically on the science and practice of human development, self-leadership, and organizational transformation.

Founded by Fredah Mainah, PhD — a Transformation Leader, Platinum Certified Profit Advisor, and global leadership advisor — SPIRAL Academic Press brings together the rigor of academic publishing with the lived experience of transformative practice. The press is built on the conviction that scholarship should serve not only the academy but the world of practice.

Mission

"To publish rigorous interdisciplinary scholarship that advances the science and practice of human development, leadership, learning, and organizational transformation — making knowledge accessible to researchers, practitioners, educators, executives, and institutions worldwide."

SPIRAL Academic Press exists to publish rigorous interdisciplinary scholarship advancing Human Development, Human Coherence, Leadership, Learning, Organizational Development, AI and Humanity, and Developmental Science. We serve researchers, practitioners, educators, executives, and institutions worldwide.

Vision

To become the world's leading independent publisher in Human Development and Developmental Science — a press recognized internationally for the quality, rigor, and impact of its publications.

We envision a scholarly ecosystem where the science of human development is accessible, applicable, and transformative — where research informs practice and practice informs research in a continuous cycle of learning and growth.

Values

Scholarly Rigor

We uphold the highest standards of research methodology, peer review, and scholarly integrity in all our publications.

Intellectual Honesty

We are committed to transparency, accuracy, and the honest representation of research findings, including null results and replication studies.

Accessibility

We believe knowledge should be freely available. Our commitment to open access ensures that scholarship reaches those who need it most.

Interdisciplinarity

Human development is inherently complex. We welcome scholarship that bridges disciplines and integrates multiple ways of knowing.

Ethical Practice

We hold ourselves and our authors to the highest standards of research ethics, publication ethics, and responsible conduct of research.

Global Perspective

We actively seek scholarship from diverse geographic, cultural, and institutional contexts, recognizing that human development is a universal concern.

Editorial Philosophy

SPIRAL Academic Press is guided by a commitment to scholarship that is both rigorous and relevant. We believe that the best academic publishing serves not only the advancement of knowledge but the improvement of human lives and organizations.

Our editorial philosophy is grounded in three principles: intellectual rigor — we demand the highest standards of evidence, methodology, and argumentation; practical relevance — we prioritize research that has implications for practice, policy, and human flourishing; and scholarly courage — we welcome research that challenges prevailing assumptions, proposes new frameworks, and opens new lines of inquiry.

We are committed to double-blind peer review as the cornerstone of scholarly quality assurance. Every submission is evaluated by at least two qualified reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. We strive for review processes that are fair, constructive, and timely.

Governance

SPIRAL Academic Press operates under the governance of SPIRAL With Fredah LLC, with editorial independence maintained through a clear separation between commercial and editorial functions. Editorial decisions are made exclusively by qualified scholars based on academic merit.
